Mimizan Plage, Atlantic France
What can you say about Mimizan Plage?
Our very first trip took us there in February 2009 and we were delighted. It was relatively cheap, there were all the services including electric hook up. Good water, toilets and outdoors showers – albeit a little chilly for February!
Subsequent visits have been good although, of course, the summer brings out the 'campers' who take over more than their fair share of space meaning spaces can be more scarce than is really necessary. The police appear to turn a blind eye to awnings, tables, chair and cooking outside making this a very relaxed way to spend a few days at the beach – if you can find room. The payment system has evolved since our first visit when a local policeman used to collect payment charges each morning (well, when he turned up!), now there is a payment barrier system so when you stay or use the services you pay!
That said about the masses in summer, Mimizan Plage is a huge aire and only in the height of the summer would this be a problem. The resort has everything you might require in terms of shops, restaurants, bars, supermarkets, pharmacies and so on. This beach is just superb!

On our last visit here in Summer 2011, a british motorhomer was fined 30 euro by the police for taking up 2 spaces using his awning. So be carefull in the high season.
