For a long time now our 2.8JTD engined motorhome has had this intermittent warning light appearing on the dashboard but with it being so intermittent it has been very hard to demonstrate to anyone to get an opinion as to its cause. A chance meeting with a motorhomer led to discussions about our vehicles and the subject of this light came up. He, Mike, had had this same problem the previous year and had Fiat carry out diagnostics to establish the problem but to no avail. He was then advised to clean and check the electrical connections to the injectors, he did and it fixed it.

Our own injector light fault got steadily worse until it became a driving hazard, hesitation on the move is one thing but when pulling out at junctions another! It seemed to be at its worst after driving on rough surfaced roads giving the impression it was indeed an electrical connection issue.

With the bonnet open there is a rectangular, clipped on, hatch at the top of the engine. The 4 clips flip open and with a bit of wiggling the hatch can be moved out of the way to reveal the injectors underneath. Each of the electrical connector caps pull off once their small side clips are squeezed hard to release them, and each one has 2 electrical connections which are the suspect items. I just reseated the caps a couple of times making sure the side clips clicked back into postion.

With the hatch replaced and secured we road tested by way of a 100 mile trip and..... absolutely perfect! Seemed to drive more smoothly overall too. B)

This may not be a fix for everyone that has the problem of this little dashboard light lighting intermittently with an accompanying loss of power but is certainly worth trying before going down the route of expensive workshops and diagnostics.

Hope this is of help to somebody.
