Hi everyone, just joined today and am making travel plans for France and as I am driving from Somerset I would like to find a safe stop near Dover (and for return) so to catch early ferry. I am familiar with the route both uk and France as I have driven by car. This is my maiden voyage in my motorhome. Suggestions please..Thank you.
Hi Polly.
You could try the Canterbury City Council stop over which is just south of the city on the Old Dover Road. Its £3 for 24hr, the barrier is locked at 8.30pm but the exit barrier stays open 24hrs. there are 2 pay stations, but they only take cash. Your ticket is also a free bus trip into the city, frequent service.Park and Ride operates from 7.00 am until 7.30pm. There is a grey water point as well as fresh water.
Enjoy your journey, stay safe.

If you go Dover ,Dunkirk, catch a evening ferry ,park in DFDS Dunkirk car park as you land ,You then get a good nights sleep and are ready for start in morning ,done this many times .

Hi everyone we too have joined today. We are full timers and will shortly be taking our 1st trip abroad. The weather can't be much worse than in Lossimouth!. All replies to the former questioner will be welcome.

don,t forget if you get there earlier than intended you can probably get on 2 hours earlier if you ask nicely and there's space available.
We always use dunkerque on the way back for a final stopover.
