Hi there, I don't know who is aware of the famous 'crunch' when changing gears with the Fiat Ducato.
Its caused by water getting into the gearbox oil then the syncromesh goes pearshaped.

Anyway long story short, some the internal parts for the ML5T gearbox as fitted in my year 2000 ducato are no longer produced by Fiat and no longer available.
So Reconditioned boxes you can buy either have the wrong ratio gears fitted or the reconditioning company uses secondhand parts!

I have taken the box out of mine as it has just started to crunch between 2nd and 3rd again.

However I have learned that the gears and syncro hubs are still made by Peugeot but have totally different part numbers to what they had originally from either Fiat or Peugeot.
I have in my hand the only second gear in the UK and it is definitely the same as my original one.
So I have ordered all the other parts from Europe, as they correspond to this second gear, so next week I will know if I have found a solution that will provide brand new genuine parts for people.
I didn't want to go down the road of doing it with secondhand parts again like I did 3 years ago.

I will let you know how it goes.
I know 3 other vans doing the same including one that they put a reconditioned box in and it didn't get to Dover before crunching again!!
so it is a bit of an issue.
