I'm going to put together a travel checklist of all the things that are important to have onboard before setting off on a trip.

It'll be in the download section of Club Motorhome for members use.

So, I thought who better to ask than you lot for the things that should be on it B)

:side:

Hose pipe with various attatchments.
Water purification tabs.
Loo liquid.
Gas.
Water.
Cutlery and utensils.
Food.
Clothes.
Bedding.
Toiletries.
Money.
Motorhome.
Tool kit.
Decent trolley jack.
Tyre foam for quick repair on the roadside.

If going to Europe I would also include:

Passport.
Log book.
Insurance certificate.
Medical cards.
Phrase book for relevant countries.
And the required 'breakdown kit, warning triangle etc.

I do carry more but don't class them as 'important' as such at least half the stuff I carry only gets used once a year or so.

Essentials are different for many, It is easy to forget Driving Licence, Cert of Ins and Test certificate, service booklet in case of warranty issues. I also like a range of glues, PU adhesive and mastic You may need to glue material, plastic, resin, metal or wood and they all need the correct stuff to get a result. Even shoes need specialist glue.
Then there are the testing and spares for the van, mine range from wire, switches, soldering kit, test meter, 12v neon tester probe, clip on ammeter, with nuts bolts and screws. 24v lithium drill the list just goes on and on. So I guess the more you are able to fix the more stuff you need to take.

Hi Neil

You may well have already thought of this. However, perhaps I may suggest breaking down the checklist into different categories depending on how people use their MH.

For example

Weekend and holiday season use.

Longer term users

Stopovers / Aires or campsites

Summer/Winter use

UK or Europe

I am sure there are more but just a thought. Dare I say a spreadsheet!!!

Some great suggestions thank you

And, thanks Spinner - I was beginning to think that it was going to be one hell of a list!

I'll think through the best way to do this but in the meantime please keep suggestions coming.....

I think breaking up into seperate lists is a good idea too.
Weekends and longer trips is a great two.
However personally I wouldnt take anything different to a stopover/aire/or campsite.
So to keep the number of lists down would it be worth 'lumping' all of the possible places into one list but divide the lists by the time away, weedends, longer etc.

It may also be good to have a 'first time' beginners basic guide for newbies too that isnt so indepth it becomes scary! ;-)

Mrs S has a 12 volt hairdryer. It is best used with the engine running so as to not run the battery down. It is about 35 years old, and it works!! Never seen one like it since.

I think it was Steve (Stegle) who told me he has made a pipe up to fit on the blown air heating out let, so Glenda just turns the heating on when she wants to dry her hair.

I cant remember the last time my wife washed her hair in the motorhome. Last time we were away she did it when we used the local swimming pool!

When we purchased our first motorhome about 8 years ago, I spent many a happy hour listing routes, stopovers and aires, essential documents and finally all items needed in the motorhome.
As we now rarely tour in the uk and head for the tunnel, we check we have passports, travel details, vehicle docs and my medication and then off. Having done it a few times the lists of essentials are in our heads and so far have not caused us to regret not methodically listing items. If we forget something tough
