On our recent trip to spain I had a little bump with the lowered gas locker on our hymer tramp. It used to house 2 x large gas bottles but these days after a gas-it tank upgrade there is only an extra hab battery. It didn't take much just a lay-by coming down from san sebastion to tarragona.
We pulled in to admire the view and failed to notice a large boulder sticking out.
It near enough demolished the bottom front part of the fibreglass locker. I bodged it with a bit of duct tape and took care from then on.
Finally after a bit of thought(some brain cells are still working)I I cut out the bottom level with the sill and fitted a stainless sheet in place held up with galvanised brackets. Some black hammerite and sealed around the 3 edges it's good as new.
Alls well and battery back in place.
