Hi

Just joined. Not new to m/homing but new on here. Paid 12 month sub as looking for something different. Fed up with C****** Club fees as I don't want/need what they offer and its too expensive.
Also been a member for some time on Motorhomestopover - like the pub car parks!
Both of us - wife Liz - retired for 6 years so spend lots of nights away throughout the year in UK and continental Europe - got as far as Bosnia and Montenegro last year
Off to France in 2 weeks.......
Arthur
Hi Arthur

Welcome to the forum - I agree with you regarding the fees charged by certain clubs. We use them occasionally but joined them because we like to use the CL's and Cs's.

We've never been further than Spain/Portugal so envious of Bosnia and Montenegro. What did you think of those locations. If you've any tips or good sites/places to stop - I'm sure our members would be very interested to learn from your experiences.

Where are you off to in France?

Hi Arthur

Thanks for info - we love France but always looking for new places to stay - never heard of Han-sur-Lesse so just off to 'Google' it.

Have you ever been to Saint Cirq Lapopie - we stopped at an aire there this year and it was really lovely.

Hi Arthur and a very warm :welcome1:

I hope you and Liz find lots of good Pub Stopovers on here to make use off - they really are a great solution to short notice overnight stays. Please let us know of any other gems that you know about, we're keen to expand our listings

Look forward to hearing more of your experiences.

Hi Chris,

This is one of the 30 new Aires that we will be adding over the next few days to our directories. It is a lovely place, if a little busy at this time of year.

Welcome to club motorhome I hope you will find the site friendly and informative.
Neil and I are in the process of reviewing the pub stopovers and would welcome any input you can offer from the stopovers you have used that we can incorporate into the review.

Pub Stopovers:-
Angel Inn, Topcliffe (near Thirsk) http://www.topcliffeangelinn.co.uk/
First pub we stayed at. Big car park down side and to rear - overlooking open country. Quiet. Outside water tap. Level. Nice bar meal. However I understand there has been a change of owner and may no longer permit overnighting.
Crown Inn, Monk Fryston (near York)http://www.monkfryston.com/
Staying a night here in 2 weeks time and not been before. Outside water tap. Owner licensee is Helen who has just moved from .............
Hungry Fox Inn, Beal (near Goole)http://www.hungryfox.co.uk/ Nice and quiet. Outside tap. But since Helen has just moved out will the new owners/licensee permit overnighting?
Dalton Arms, Glasson Dock (lancashire) but appears to have closed!!!! http://www.sugarvine.com/lancashire/search/restaurant_search.asp?restaurant=64448

I have another couple which I'll send in separate post but I've found there is a high turnover of owners/licensees so its great today but not premitted tomorrow.......

Pub Stopovers
Aultguish Inn, nr Ullapool http://www.aultguish.co.uk/ We stayed here one night after eating in bar and having a few beers. Isolated but on a busy east/west highland road. We parked close to road as looked a bit gloomy down the sides. Not sure about outside water tap.
Finavon Hotel, north of Forfar on A90 to Aberdeen http://www.finavonhotel.co.uk/ Never stayed in their extension car park - its only 30 miles from my home! - but we are in to cafe/bar regularly. The owner is 'David' and a while back I asked how he felt about overnighting in extension car park. No probs was response if we were to patronise bar/restaurant. Now I've upset 'David' recently - he changed his coffee provider and I offered an opinion - so I ain't asking his up to date view on overnighting!!
Bowl Inn, Charing, Kent http://www.bowlinn.co.uk/ Staying here beginning of Sept for one night. Not been before but 'boss' (Alan Paine)sounds a nice guy

Thats all I can remember
