Best of luck with finding an answer to this one that will be non destructive.
I am drawn towards freezing the resin to make it brittle, much the same as you do with chewing gum, but how you can apply that degree of cold without a visit to the Nordic countries in the winter I have no idea.
If you do find the answer please post it back onto the forum as I am sure others must be waiting for the answer to this.
