While travelling Europe, I noticed a type of "trailer" I have not seen in the UK (yet!). The trailer fixed to the towbar of the campervan with two Hitches, and had only two wheels. The wheels were more like Castors which you find on furniture, than conventional trailer wheels. They say a picture replaces a thousand words, so, see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1X-NsNFDMdE&NR=1&feature=endscreen to simplify my explanation. My questions are:

Has anyone managed to source such a trailer in the UK?

Does anyone have actual experience of using such a trailer, in particular, things that go wrong, eg a puncture one of the trailer tyres, how do you change the wheel, repair the tyre etc.

Thanks in advance.
Member 'Dreammobil' uses just such a trailer.

Might be worth PMing her if she doesn't reply on here

I have replied as best I could. Unfortunately the supplier of my trailer is no more.

I can say that it is a wonderful piece of kit and I don't notice it there when driving and reversing.

hi.i am sorry but i for one would differently not like to tow that or anything else on the back of my m/h thats why we gave up caravaning its becoming an obstacle corse trying to get on some m/h stops with trailers -towed cars etc taking up space which is supposed to be for m/h's . william

Well William, each to their own of course. But, this type of trailer is effectively only slightly longer than a scooter rack. The advantage, as I see it, is, Rather than have a scooter rack, and risk overloading problems, I can have a 3.5Tonne model, and still carry a scooter. I am considering changing my current motorhome (length 6.5 metre, including bicycle rack). My idea was to have a short Motorhome (sub 6Metre), and the trailer would add, perhaps 1.5 metre, so, total length just short of 7.5 metres. My alternative is to buy a 7 metre Garage Model. I share your frustration by the way, on several occasions we have not been able to get onto Aires because spaces are occupied by trailers and/or towed cars. The reason for wishing to switch from Bicycles (which we have used thus far), to a Motor Scooter, is basically advancing years. My wife, in particular, has muscle condition which is making cycling significant distances somewhat difficult for her.

Try: http://www.easylifter.co.uk/hydra-trail.htm . Don't have one ourselves but a friend saw a couple of people with them at this year's Isle of Man TT, reported that owners were very pleased with them.

We're bikers and are looking at ways we could take one of our bikes away with us & as they are both heavy and available payload is very limited, this might be a possibility.
