Those with an interest in towing a car on an a-frame may know that the guidance given on the UK Government website was withdrawn for revision. This prompted various anti a-framers to presume that they would be made illegal and all sorts of other doom and gloom predictions.

About 6 weeks ago I wrote to the relevant government department to ask when the review would be complete and what did they regard as being a-frames (as there are 2 confusing types) - copy of my email below:

"Could you please advise as to when this review posted at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/a-frames-and-dollies/a-frames-and-dollies is likely to be completed by please?

And does 'A-frames' in this context refer to purpose built and bolted on components (as in for towing by a motorhome) rather than the temporary strap on recovery type of frames?

Thank you,
"

Well today I got a response! :o

"Thank you for your email dated 6 April regarding the information sheet on gov.uk. This can now be viewed at the following location:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/a-frames-and-dollies

Yours sincerely

James Brown

Department for Transport"

So there you have it....

Very little difference to the previous guidance other than possibly being even more vague and avoiding issues of legality.

If it ain't broke..... Don't fix it!
