living in France and we rent a bay in a large hangere on a farm locally. while it is not normally left more than 4-6 weeks at a stretch in the winter months, as indicated all water drained ourt and taps left open. fridge door left open and stand the matress on end to prevent humidity building up between it and base.

while i do not keep heater or dehumidifier, put a bowl of rock salt there to prevent humidity build up.

A good point; this is seen by local authorities as an earner. the problem is that, ulike most of Europe, they make a distinction between night and day parking and do invariably charge for both periods. This does make it expensive. the most expensive 24 hour rate I have come across in France is down near Cannes at €30 (but for 24 hours). Most of the paying aires are between €0 and €15. I agree with you Tom1; if too expensive, park up the road for the night!
