Just read on another forum that the Portimao aire is closing on 8th December.
This has been on the cards for a couple of years. It appears that Developers have bought the land and intend building on it.
We were there at the end of October and it was already starting to fill up with winter stayers.
This site had the capacity for 200 or more vans and it gets crammed full over winter.
There are of course many other places to stay on the Algarve but I would imagine with the overflow of motor homes that normally use Portimao it will be quite busy this winter.

Thanks for passing the info on julie1, I think there's been doubts about its future in the past but it sounds more definite this time.
Its a shame, we were their late last year and it was very handy to park on hardstanding when the rains come... every year
Hopefully the other locations around there will be able to absorb the numbers of motorhomes looking for somewhere else.
If it ain't broke..... Don't fix it!
