Anyone else waiting with baited breath for president Macron's statement tomorrow evening on lifting of travel restrictions on French borders?Part of me is hoping that uk will be included but a nagging little voice in my brain says we will be proclued due to the quarantine imposed here when as I understand there was a tacit agreement not to do so with France.Ifear. We will suffer again like this for some time to come

I think you get respect from officials if you make their job easier, so bear that in mind.
If you are just transiting France to another country try to print out some evidences of site bookings or accomodation booking if your mates have an address in Spain if thats where you are heading.
If you are on route to Germany I can confirm that down here on the River Mosel its an invasion by motorhomes mostly German nationals and is busier than a normal June.
The good news here is you do not need to book in, there are literally hundreds of stopovers and they are never more than a few kilometers from each other.

Yes we did our normal route through France, Belgium, Luxembourg. The French bj2rder control at the tunnel in Folkestone was straightforward as we wereheading home to germany( the residency papers from our house in Germany and the French form that was needed at the time got us waved through).
On the Belgium border all trafffic was directed off at the service area and we followedthe signs to a Police Porta Cabin that was closed and borded up.
Carried on followed the signs straight back onto the motorway. At Luxembourg we did not visit the first service station as you enter prefering to do the last one to fill up with fuel as we were leaving Luxembourg. So really straightforward. More ...

Getting on well with lockdown van revamp, but a couple of weeks I began to ponder how van life wil be during and post this pandemic.I came to conclusion that things in the future will have to change,so decided to build a totally off grid set up,I'm not much of one for campsite, preferring Aires and out of the way stopovers,so now I've added extra water tanks bringing capacity up to260 litres, upped the solar to 300 watts with enhanced controls and battery capacity, and bigger pantry!Along with a few other tweaks I reckon I can stay off grid for many weeks at a time, adding an occasional fuel and food shop.As soon as we are able to travel I will be putting my theories to the test, and find out if totally Mad!

How's everyone doing? in week 6 of lockdown.I was thinking today this is the longest period I've spent at home in Devon since I closed my haulage business and retired 6 years ago.Luckily I'm busy refiguring my van,so plenty to keep me occupied, but I haven't even been to the coast 7 miles away, takes me back to my days driving in the middle-east,where you had to fill in a form to travel.Having traveled since my teens 60 years ago,my freedom of movement is precious to me,any loosing it even for a short? time makes me uncomfortable

I don't think there is a motorhome on the market that will suit everyone's needs.I've numerous vans over the years, ranging from split screen VW surf bus to tag axle A class and they have all needed "modifying" to make life on the road more comfortable.I bought my present van new 3 years ago after dragging around countless dealers. After a few days away I discoved that I disliked sleeping in the fixed bed as there was no roof vent above,so out came the jig saw and mastic et voila I could see the stars,3 years and quite a few miles later,I've fitted larger tanks, pumps cameras and much more.Being at home for the first time in many months,I've had to fight the urge to reconfigurethe seating, but I have the plans in my head upon my return from Spain next year.
