today I bit the bullet and tackled the insurance renewal for the camper ... OMG what a farce ... because I now want to use it as my only (Sole) vehicle the Motorhome insurers seem to want to load the insurance especially the voluntary excess ... I have always had Nil voluntary excess (even in the days before the insurance co's decided to make more money out of us and added their own) ... Seems they don't like nil excess and all the ones I looked at loaded up to £30 extra if I wanted it 
I the bad old days you were given NCP if you had not had any accidents in 5yrs ... like a reward ... now you have to pay them for the privilege of being accident free and not costing them bugger all!!
I have had some what I thought reasonable quotes ... then they start adding the "Extras" NCP, Legal Expenses, Nil Excess, Drive other vehicle and so on ...
It is almost better to insure and run another car than to go sole vehicle with a camper ... hell knows how anyone with a A class gets on if they load up what is after all a Ford Transit by as much as they do...
But the best bit was because I still "Own" a car (it is on SORN) most of them would not insure as sole vehicle ...
Thank heavens for the man at "Lifesure" insurance ... he searched and sorted everything for me as I was at the end of my patience ... I now have a policy I am fairly happy with (except the increase in Compulsory Excess) but I will have to live with it ...
