We're going to be spending a few weeks mooching around Northern Spain shortly and its an area that we haven't visited in our motorhome before. Our plans are to take in Galicia and the Asturias mainly.

We have quite a few aires in mind but always like to go on personal recommendations so would really appreciate hearing about some good village or rural aires or even campsites as we will need to stay at a few to make use of their laundry facilities from time to time.

The village and rural settings are preferential because we will have our dog with us and want to make use of any walking opportunities.

Many thanks in advance.

If it ain't broke..... Don't fix it!

Hi Neil.
We did northern Spain on our first trip out and, from Biarritz went all along the northern coast to A Coruna and then south into Portugal. Have a look at my blog to get an idea of where we stopped, from here http://stevegreenphotography.wordpress.com/2010/02/page/3/

Places I would definitely recommend would be Luarca, Covadonga (an amazing place, hardly anything there apart from a huge cathederal but excellent wild camping) and Cangas de Onis (a proper aire there, go on a Sunday and get into town.......madness!)Finisterre and Camarinas were also lovely.

The place I wouldn't particularly go to would be A Coruna unless you could find somewhere other than the official aire as it is very isolated.

If you are looking at wild camping your way around that area then you could do worse than to download the POI's from http://www.furgovw.org/mapa_furgoperfecto.php though some are out of date and no longer there, a lot that we saw were beautiful spots, some right on the beach, others not.

Good luck with the planning, we did none and winged it all the way round but hopefully you can glean some information from the blog.

See you in August!
