Info for anyone visiting this region:-

"Catalonia will levy a tourist tax from 1 November 2012.

The amount of tax will vary according to the accommodation. The introduction of this tax means that at a campsite in Barcelona you will pay an extra € 0.75 per person per night and in the rest of the region your camping holiday will cost you an extra € 0.50 per night per person.

The tourist tax applies to maximum 7 nights. If you stay longer you do not need to pay extra for the remaining time."

Seems like 'most' people just accept it as a little tax levied by a country that needs revenue. There is a local news article here in English.

Sounds like many complaints have come from hotels who are moaning that they have to pay to have their accounting software changed to suit the new charges  .

If it ain't broke..... Don't fix it!
