Anything that makes using the internet easier while travelling has to be a good thing in my book ;) .

We have several devices that are capable of accessing the internet when we are out and about but have only just found a method to successfully share one incoming WiFi signal, meaning that previously when we have got a signal using our long range receiver its only one laptop (the one connected to the antenna) that got to use it.

Situations where this would be a pain is perhaps on an Aire or campsite where internet access has to be purchased per machine or, when a distant unsecured network is available to connect with.

For anyone with a Windows based laptop there is a great piece of free software that can be downloaded -

Once installed it makes your laptop into a hotspot that your other devices can connect to with a password that you set up  .

My own fairly new Dell laptop is supposed to have a similar feature as standard but I have never managed to get it working properly. The above software, once installed, worked straight away. There were a couple of prompts during the installation to turn off anything it found that was going to cause conflicts, and a couple of reboots were necessary but all fairly painless.

Hope this is helpful to others.

If it ain't broke..... Don't fix it!
