Hi all,
anybody who has any idea how long food in a freezer compartment of the van fridge will last without connection to any power source, ie, when on board a ferry travelling to Spain.

Tried the Thetford website but they are unwilling to offer any sort of advice because the unit will be "off power".
They will not commit.

any idea's will be welcome

Travelling via Brittany Ferries when there is a break in the weather.

thanks

Hi, I've done the trip Plymouth to Santander with two vans. One with a Dometic Fridge/Freezer, the other with a Thetford.

Had no trouble with either for the trip duration. All we did was put both on the full cold setting the day before we travelled to Plymouth, keeping them that way, on the run down. Filled both freezers to capacity, with pre-frozen food/water bottles, put a couple of frozen bottles in the fridge.

One other tip. Put the most sensitive foods to unfreezing in the back of the freezer compartment. Frozen water bottles nearest the door.

We had no problems at all. Enjoy the trip (and take your binoculars for whale and dolphin watching from the rear outside deck).
