Who is in Sicily right now. We are leaving in a few days from the UK and looking forward to the archaeological sites, the lemons and the wine. Does anyone have any helpful tips or warnings of any sort. Our previous winter trip to southern Italy was not without hiccups. Coldest winter in years.... Frozen taps and closed sosta's because of fear of refugees??? Why I am not quite sure. But any info gratefully received. Thanks in advance.

We have been here for 6 weeks. We've had a few grey days with temperatures around 12 deg. but sun more days by far. Right now it's about 18 with not a cloud in the sky.
We haven't seen any migrants but have seen a 'a foreign looking person' at a couple of supermarkets - no idea of their status and no hassle - just a hand held out in hope.
Easiest place ever to get fresh water - plenty of water fountains - only one or two not working, but far more where there is no problem. Not many free aires with grey/black water facilites, but you can pay for this service only at private facilities.
As far as we're concerned there are no problems at all. Great places to stop on ports etc, great food and wine, markets heaving with fresh produce at low prices. We have wild camped 80% of the time with no problems whatsoever. Where we are now, on a wildcamp, not an official aire, the breadman comes round evey day to the half dozen motorhomes parked here.
Maybe were just lucky, but I see no reason why you shouldn't be too
